A legacy built on trust

About

The History of Hodge

Mike Hodge grew up in a construction family, was educated at the University of Iowa in Civil Engineering, and started Hodge Construction in his garage in Iowa City in 1981.

In the early years, the company took on small projects – primarily residential work and remodels. Mike’s brother, David, joined him in the late 80’s as the business continued to grow. Mike and David grew the company, steadily building their reputation as a trustworthy contractor who does quality work. As the projects grew in size, so did their team. In 1989, they built their 711 S Gilbert office.

Throughout the 90s and early 2000s, Hodge’s focus shifted towards multi-family and light commercial construction as well as project development and management.

The owners always felt it was important to be involved in the community in different ways, particularly through getting involved with non-profit organizations. Over the years, Hodge has been involved in new construction, remodel projects, and other volunteer efforts for many local non-profit organizations.

As Hodge moves into the next generation of leadership, these core values of trustworthiness, producing quality work, and supporting our local community are still central to the company.

Local Support

Hodge in the Community

Hodge takes great pride in supporting our local non-profits in their efforts to grow and improve their facilities.  Serving our community has been a central to our values since Hodge’s beginnings. Throughout the years that Hodge has partnered with non-profit organizations in various ways, we have come to appreciate how including volunteers in the construction aspect of a project creates a sense of community ownership over the project.

In recognition of that fact, we have organized volunteer involvement in several projects where community members have been invited to work alongside Hodge and our subcontractors in hands-on “Volunteer Workshops”. We value the hard work these organizations do to make our community a better place and are honored to be a part of it.
