The buildout of the Antique Car Museum of Iowa was not the typical tenant buildout. Creating the new space for the museum on the ground floor of the Iowa River Landing Xtream Arena, involved working with museum consultants to maximize the space and museum-goer experience while integrating the scenery and inventory from the Car Museum’s previous space. Hodge worked with carpenters to reconstruct the original Skelly gas station and carriage house in the new space. They also worked with local artist Ali Hval to recreate iconic Iowa City buildings that fit the era in beautiful murals throughout. The end result is a bright and engaging piece experience for museum visitors of all ages.
